Zara
Angenita, Cyriel & Indira
Bijna twee jaar geleden kwam onze lieve Zara vanuit Bosnië naar Nederland, dankzij Stichting Hope for Dogs.
Zara maakt elke dag gezellig.

Groetjes,
Iris en Leif

Joy
Marina
JOY 🧡
Ons perfecte match. Match made in heaven. Ik zal even uitleggen waarom🥰

15 juni landen wij in Tuzla, Bosnië.

Ivy
Nathalie
A few months after the loss of our previous dog, we started to feel the itch to create new life in our home. We quickly decided that we wanted to adopt another dog from the shelter.
By scrolling so much on the internet for possible shelter dogs, the site of 'Hope for dogs Europe' suddenly came our way. So many dogs, all looking for an owner, but was this a reliable organization? After much hesitation, we sent a message and those doubts were immediately removed.
We had our eye on Ivy, 2 years old, a crossbreed of a bit of everything 🙂 After a telephone conversation we made the decision to adopt her. Then it was the countdown to Ivy's arrival. Still a bit scared to see how she would react because you can't meet her in real life. But we've had our luck with Ivy.
Everything they said about Ivy was correct, a very sweet, gentle character, social towards people and other dogs. She quickly found her place with our family and now 3 months later we couldn't miss her anymore. She enjoys all the attention, cuddles, playing games, long walks but also lying on the couch 🙂
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to adopt Ivy ❤

Sam
Charlotte
In June 2024 I unexpectedly lost my faithful four-legged friend Eden. Without immediately looking for a 'new' dog, I decided to follow Hope For Dogs. Not much later my eye fell on Sam: a brave pirate with one eye, a cheerful face and a wagging character.
I let Hope For Dogs know my interest, but I still wanted to thoroughly consider the decision to bring a 'new' dog into my home so quickly. We stayed in close contact, thoughts about the adoption, as well as photos and videos were exchanged. The match with Sam, and the organization, became really clear.
On September 7, 2024, Sam arrived with The Happy Bus. Lovingly cared for, always there, and yet... and yet... A piece of the puzzle seemed lost for him. Which he has now found. Sam has been with us for over a year now, and the transformation he is going through is wonderful to witness. I see how Sam relaxes. He's home. I can look at him with love and think: “Every day you seem to be a lot more of a 'normal' dog.” Carefree, in the moment, a real bon vivant.
Sam-Sun, our sun in the house, how you make not only my daughter's face shine, but our entire household (and far beyond): I am so very happy that you are here!
For those who have doubts: speak to Hope For Dogs about this, have a conversation, immerse yourself in the dog's life, and who knows, maybe the sun will soon shine in your home too.

Ziva
Timi
Ziva came into our lives at the end of 2024. We were introduced to the organization through a friend and we contacted Hope for Dogs. This went very smoothly, we asked a lot of questions and received detailed answers. We also stayed in touch with the lady with whom our dog had spent her first time for a long time. It was nice to exchange experiences and let her know how well she was doing.
In the meantime, she has fully grown into a full-fledged member of our family. She brings life to the house every day, with her cheerful energy and her gentle character. She is a real cuddly bear who is always ready for a pet, a game or just some fun together.
She is also doing very well in dog school. She learns quickly and we see how she becomes more and more confident. It's nice to see how she continues to develop.
What started as an adoption has grown into a story of trust, love and growing together. We can no longer imagine our family without her. 🐾💛

Lenka
Wieke
Our dog Lenka came into our lives a month ago. An intelligent, gentle and social sweetheart that we were able to adopt through Hope for dogs.
The entire adoption process was a very pleasant experience. The people behind Hope for Dogs really do everything they can to ensure that every dog gets a golden basket, and the online communication with multiple contact moments was very warm and flawless.
The trip to the Netherlands takes a special bus with air conditioning, and although it is always a stressful experience, this is by far the best way to get the dogs safely to the Netherlands and Belgium. The drivers are also extremely involved, and upon arrival a volunteer is ready to guide the new owners through the first contact.
Our dog Lenka lived with several dogs in Bosnia with a temporary family. She is well socialized there with people and other dogs and cats. Although the first weeks in the Netherlands were of course quite exciting for Lenka, she adapted perfectly to the new situation. She's doing really fantastic. She is kind to all the people and animals she meets, including our cats. She is funny and smart, and a bit stubborn. We can no longer imagine life without her.

Belle
Lauren
About a year ago we made the decision: we want to become a foster family! Helping dogs find a better home was (and is) always my dream. I dragged my friend into it a bit 🥴
Belle was the dog that needed the most immediate help at that moment, so she was allowed to come. It was as if Belle had come home and had been here for years. She immediately got along with the other dogs, walked around among the horses as if she had never done anything else and persuaded everyone to cuddle and pet her (she still does!). It soon became clear: Belle belonged here. With us. As a full-fledged family member. Her health slowly but surely improved, and she soon felt good about herself. We were supported and encouraged by the entire 'hope for dogs' team, and also by all the bystanders here. Belle will soon be 2 years old, and she comes with us everywhere. She becomes happier, happier every day and enjoys life so much. Thank you, dear people of the organization, for making all this happen. It's fantastic what you do, and even though this was supposed to be temporary, I'm so happy that Belletje is in our lives forever 🥹♥

Mads
Sofie

Mira
Celien & Jeroen
Hi!!
We adopted Mira in October, because we were looking for a friend for our first adopted dog. Mira immediately felt at home, although she had to get used to the fact that she had a roof over her head and therefore had to learn house rules. She always puts her best foot forward, both at home and at dog school. She is full of energy, but always sweet and cheerful. She is happy to spend an entire afternoon asking for cuddles when visiting visitors. Despite this, she is quite insecure and doesn't want to do anything wrong. She tries very hard for us. We are proud of the steps this girl has already taken and will undoubtedly continue to take.
See how Mira was first in the municipal shelter 4 months ago: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1AUuAa1vAL/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Lili
Esri
✨ Our experience with the adoption of Lili ✨
A few weeks ago, Lili came to live with us, after her long trip to the Netherlands. From the first moment she was sweet, cheerful and clearly happy with all the attention. She immediately walked nicely on a leash and wanted to cuddle all day long, and of course give her a paw every now and then to say: “more please!” 🐾
Our cat and Lili had to get used to each other, but things are getting better every day. What strikes us most is how quickly she adapts and how much confidence she already gives. She arrived with a bit of kennel cough, but even when she wasn't feeling well, she remained so gentle and affectionate.
Lili has made our lives so much richer in a short time. She brings love, cheerfulness and a dose of crazy pranks into the house. We are grateful that we were able to give her a second chance.
For anyone who is in doubt: adopting a dog may be exciting, but it is one of the best decisions you can make. It not only changes the dog's life, but yours too. 🐾❤

Woezel
Djanai
'Don't let the past steal your present'
A little over a year ago, Woezel passed by Hope for Dogs.
I had been looking for a buddy who deserved a second chance for some time: a dog from the shelter.
And now, almost a year ago, Woezel came to me and that was a very good choice! Despite his sad past.
From day one he has been a very social and sweet dog, both towards people and other animals and likes to go everywhere. As soon as the trunk of the car opens, he's already in there!
Unfortunately, Woezel has osteoarthritis and HD and long walks are often not possible, but looking around on the back of the carriage he can easily keep it up for hours! 🐝🦋🐛
I am very happy that Woezel came my way and hope to do many wonderful things with him!❤🍀
Thank you Team Hope for Dogs for this amazing dog!

Coda
Jacky
Here's a story about Nina now Coda.
Six months after our two adopted Romanian dogs passed away in quick succession, the itch started to creep again.
They lived with us for almost 13 years and it was very quiet after that!
We ended up at Hope for Dogs Europe and saw Nina on the site.
We were completely in love with her and we only liked the fact that she was no longer a puppy because a very young dog is also too spicy due to physical problems. So 2 years was completely fine and because of extensive photos and videos and good explanations we knew a bit what we were getting into and that was really nice!
But then we have to wait and see how she would be at home with us...
We are so lucky to have such a sweet and wonderful dog, a real treasure! 🥰
Eating was a challenge at first and we were happy with everything she ate. 😂
What a difference from now, she loves her kibble!
She is okay with brushing and further care, but strangers in the house are still a bit exciting.
But that will be fine in due course, we will let her get used to it at her own pace.
She also thinks snow is beautiful, which we enjoy 😊
We would like to thank everyone at Hope For dogs Europe for all the work you do for the dogs and hope that more people will choose a dog from Bosnia!
-Jacky

Snoepie
Bo & Djef
When I saw Snoepie — the toothless dog — appear on my timeline, I was immediately sold ❤ I sincerely believe that Snoepie came our way for a reason. We have often compared one of our cats to “Toothless”, so the fact that this nickname came back immediately felt special.
The fact that he is also a dog that will never bite, suits our family perfectly — especially because Djef has been bitten by an unknown dog before.
Snoepie is without a doubt the most genuinely happy dog I have ever seen. With his loving, playful character he truly conquers everyone he meets 🐾 From day one we felt that he felt good with us. After the long journey to Belgium, all he had to do was hear his name and he immediately came to hug us – complete strangers. That moment was so special ✨
Also a huge thank you to the entire team: from first contact to driver — you are worth gold 💛

Kaja
Tamara en Ries
Hi everyone,
Here is Kaja's story.
Last summer we unfortunately had to put our previous dog to sleep. After six months we started to get the itch again and we started looking for a new friend 🐾
After having had 2 purebred dogs as puppies, we wanted to rescue a dog from the shelter. We thought that would be a nice thing to do. After some searching on the internet we soon came across the Hope for Dogs site.
After looking around we saw a dog that would suit our family perfectly.
We contacted her to ask if she was still available. And yes, she was!
She was even able to join the upcoming transport that was planned just before Christmas!🌲
It couldn't have been more beautiful because then we would have a holiday and therefore plenty of time to welcome her ❤
Kaja was found with a few others in a remote forest. Probably dumped there as a puppy. She didn't have a name yet. We named them Kaja.
Fortunately, she was found by Danka and fed and lured there by her. Fortunately, she ended up in her shelter and thus came to us via Hope for Dogs 🙏
She has been with us for 3 months now and we can't miss her anymore! She is already completely settled in and used to it 🥰 she loves to cuddle and lie on the couch. She also likes to travel by car. She has already played with many neighborhood dogs on the dog playing field. She loves doing the course over the equipment.
We are really happy with her, she is a super sweet and social dog and is completely part of our family ❤
Big thanks to everyone at Hope for Dogs. What you all do there for those poor animals, hats off to you 🙏 you have a heart of gold 💛
Thank you on behalf of Kaja, she will never have to wander again 🐾

Bella
Erika en George
Our adoption experience with Bella.
While looking for another, older dog, I saw Bella appear on FB. She was offered for takeover through the Hope for Dogs Europe foundation.
The first contact was made with Merel, from the Hope for Dogs Europe foundation.
Over the next few weeks, enough time passed for us to think carefully about this step. In our lives we are used to adopting older animals and giving them a quiet and animal-worthy life.
After the last bit was discussed with Merel, such as photos of what our living situation is like, it became serious. Contact was made with Heidi, where Bella lived. To make an appointment to meet Bella. So it got seriously real.
Off we went, to Belgium. The visit went very well. Bella came over quite quickly and stood with us. Endless petting. What a super sweet and gentle dog. Incredible.
A few hours later we drove home again. We decided to adopt her. Heidi had every confidence in us. Because Bella had led a hard life in Bosnia.
Our challenge only lay in contact with our cat. After some awkwardness towards each other and corrections here and there to Bella and our cat, everything was completely fine between the two after 3 days. Partly because our cat was used to a dog. Now it is 2 weeks later and Bella has won a lottery ticket. Walking, dancing in the house when she is fed, the peace and regularity that she does well with. And her Mattie, the cat. I think this is a success story, which we are also surprised about.

Lori
Kim
Hello everyone,
My name is Lori, and I would like to start my story in June 2025. Do you remember this one? I certainly do! Because then I was finally allowed to pack my suitcase to start my trip to Belgium!
I got on the bus with a little heart, because I didn't know what awaited me...but I knew that my nose was pointing me in the right direction! More than a thousand kilometers further I got out... and began my greatest adventure.
When I finally arrived at my new house after a long drive, I could hardly believe my eyes: my 3 future fur besties were already waiting for me!
Finally I am where I belong, where my basket is soft, my belly is full, and my heart is full of love... so thank you to all the volunteers for giving me this opportunity, and doing this every day for all the other dogs. 🐾🤎

Chase
Bianca & Henk
Today we would like to share something about our sweet dog that we adopted from Bosnia through Hope for Dogs Europe.
When she arrived to us she was very thin. She had clearly had a hard life and didn't even have teeth anymore. Probably because she walked around with an iron bowl in her mouth for a long time out of pure hunger, looking for food. It broke our hearts to see her condition when she was taken from the municipal shelter.
But despite everything she has been through, she is so sweet and grateful. She has already gained a few kilos and we are slowly working on her muscle building so that she becomes stronger again.
The best thing to see is how quickly she started to feel at home. She likes to cuddle with us on the couch and loves blankets and pillows that she can snuggle up in. It's like she finally understands that she is safe and never has to go hungry again.
We are extremely grateful that Hope for Dogs Europe rescued her and that she is now part of our family. She deserves all the love in the world. 🐶❤

Filou
Wendy
Hi, I'm Filou 🐾
One day my owner saw me passing by on the Hope for Dogs Facebook page... and BAM 💘 She immediately fell in love. Just on my head! And honestly? I understand that. 😌
Not much later I was allowed to pack my suitcase (okay, imaginary 😉) and take her home.
From that moment on my life changed completely. From shelter dog to king of the house! 👑🐶
I like to go everywhere with me. As soon as the car door opens, I jump in. Adventure? I'm there! 🚗💨
My owner says every day how happy she is with me...
But I secretly think I'm even happier with her. ❤
Sometimes a new chapter just starts with one photo on Facebook… and a little bit of falling in love. 🍀
Filou's paw 🐾💕

Maci
Esmee
Since June I have had my eyes on sweet Maci. I couldn't get her sweet eyes out of my head and that's why I sent a message to Hope For Dogs Europe in October. When I was told that she had not yet found a home, I knew it must be meant to be! We had to wait 1 month for transport and this felt like an eternity... We had good contact throughout the days!
We were kept well informed on the day of transport.
And then the time had come. I could finally hold our girl in my arms🥰. And now, almost 2 months later, I can't imagine life without her. So curious, soft, a little naughty 😉, but above all very sweet. Maci is doing very well, she has been an angel from the start.
Thank you so much Hope For Dogs❤

Nova
Marian en Tjalling
We are Marian and Tjalling, at the end of June we had to miss our sweet dog Google after 15 years. We enjoyed him very much for 9 years. The lack and walks didn't do me any good. First the guilt, already having a new dog, but he is in our hearts, and there was room for a rescue dog. Then I persuaded my husband and fortunately he saw that I really wanted it.
I immediately searched the internet and came across Hope for dogs Europe. Immediately appealed to me. Well-maintained website and contact was arranged quickly. Indicated that I wanted a dog from a foster home, a female and not a puppy.
A quick phone call that Zuja/(now) Nova was a sweet, fun dog for us. She was immediately the dog I wanted to take care of. I fell in love immediately. After blood work and testing, the adoption was initiated. Before she arrived I received nice pictures of her. After what took months for me, I was able to pick her up from Amersfoort on September 6.
So happy to hold her in my arms. She has now been living with us for 4 weeks and she has grown so much in those weeks. What a sweet, cuddly and inquisitive dog he is. She enjoys playing on the dog field and she loves children.
On behalf of Zuja/Nova, we would like to thank the Foundation both in Bosnia and the Netherlands. I will mention your name if there are people who want to adopt a foreign dog.

Aiden
Renalda, Robert, Liam & Owen
On December 20, 2025 the time had come. My husband and I headed to Bussum to meet the newest member of our family for the first time, our Aiden. A few weeks earlier, my husband and I had sent an email to Hope For Dogs Europe with a whole story about who we are and that we would really like to adopt a dog. We had already looked around at all the photos on the site, but choosing a dog from a picture is something we find difficult. Fortunately, that same evening we had a very nice telephone conversation with one of the ladies from Hope For Dogs. We talked about our family and that we have 2 young children (1 of 3 years old and 1 of now 6, but then still 5 years old). So it had to be a dog that could be around young children. Aiden soon came into the picture and that happened to be one of the dogs that we had seen on the site and that we were interested in. When we were told that Aiden loves water and can play in it, we knew for sure. Our children also love water and we can already imagine that they will soon be able to play with water in the garden in the summer. During the conversation we made the choice to go for Aiden. Hope For Dogs indicated that we could think about it for a while, but that was not necessary. In the weeks between the conversation and Aiden's arrival, we were kept very informed about Aiden's well-being and if we asked for a photo or video, the ladies of Hope For Dogs were never too crazy to send something. It was so very pleasant how the contact with the ladies of the foundation was and still is.
On December 20, 2025 the time had come. My husband and I went to Bussum. Luckily we were able to get a babysitter for the kids, so that we could let Aiden get used to us after the trip. Everything went well and when we could finally hold him in our arms it felt very familiar. Once home, the meeting with the children also went well. We had explained to them as best we could in advance that they had to be very calm and that Aiden had to get used to it first. This went fine. They were curious about Aiden, but actually gave him plenty of space and let Aiden approach them as much as possible. This has resulted in the children already having a very nice bond with Aiden. They really are brothers. Aiden prefers to sleep between them on the couch or play with them.
We can really only say that the ladies of Hope For Dogs really know what they are doing and how to match a dog. We are extremely grateful to have adopted Aiden into our family and we wouldn't miss him for anything. It is a fantastically gentle, smart and grateful dog with its own character who loves children. And we love him! 🤎🐾
